Betty Lavonne Lewis

Betty Lavonne Lewis, also lovingly known as  “Mamaw Betty” of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, passed away on May 07, 2024, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Betty was born in Greenbrier, Arkansas, on June 11, 1941, to Sidney Whitaker and Amanda Whitaker Watters.

Betty is survived by her husband, Tommie,  her children, Johnny Dale (Rhonda) Capps, Ted (Sheila) Capps, and Janet (Paul) Lessley; her grandchildren, B.J. Drummond, Jennifer Capps McInerney, Kimberly Capps Wilson, Amanda Drummond Whalen, and Randall Capps, her great-grandchildren, Adele Drummond, Katie Whalen, Ben Garrett, Ava Drummond, Luc Garrett, Scottlyn Wilson, Christopher Whalen, Kylie McInerney, Josslyn Wilson, Grant McInerney, and Tommie Capps, one great great grandchild, Karter Gates; and a very dear friend, Joann Harwell and all of her Chik-Fil-A friends.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, John Capps, her parents, her brothers, Harold and Danny Whitaker, and her great-granddaughter, Kinsie Whalen.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Akins Cemetery on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 2:00 with Steve Rutherford officiating.

The family has entrusted the arrangements to Forever Memories Funeral Services, INC of Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
