Cameron Jacob Mathews, 46, of Vian, Oklahoma, passed away in Little Rock, Arkansas on May 26, 2024. Born to Denise Mathews in Kansas City, Missouri, on August 05, 1977, Cameron’s unwavering dedication marked his life. Early in life, he moved to Nicut, Oklahoma, and later, he met the mother of his children, LeeAnn. For 20 years, he worked as a truck driver, a career he excelled in due to his love and commitment. Ultimately, his career would lead to his untimely death. However, given the opportunity, he would have gone right back to it even if his children had argued with him about it.
His hard work was a testament to his devotion to providing for his family. Cameron was incredibly proud of his sobriety. Cameron passed away after maintaining his sobriety for 1,756 days. He often credited his sober date to the time he spent at Clay Crossing in Maud, Oklahoma, where he received his very own buckle for overcoming his own fight with addiction. More than anything, though, Cameron gave Christ the honor and glory for his sobriety; he wanted everyone to know about what God had done for him and that he would do it for them, too. He was saved in August of 2019 and baptized in February of 2020. Cameron was truly the best dad he could be, and he made sure his grandbabies knew how much their pa pa loved them.
He is survived by his beloved cat, Okra; the mother of their children, LeeAnn Thibodeaux; their children, Alexandria and wife Allison, Zane, Paige, and Arthur; and his grandchildren, Ainsley, Aubrin, and Elva, his siblings Michael, Leslie, Jessica and Mike, and his grandmother, Nadine Campbell.
He is preceded in death by his parents Denise Mathews and Michael Allen and his grandfather, Arthur Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers are Zane Mathews, Arthur Mathews, Noah Benge, and Michael Allen.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 on Sunday, June 02, 2024 at Old Seabolt Cemetery, in Muldrow, Oklahoma.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to Forever Memories Funeral Services, INC of Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
