Carl Edwin Randolph (Grandpa, G-pa, & Pa), 93, of Hanson, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2025, in Claremore, Oklahoma, leaving behind a remarkable legacy.
Born on September 9, 1931, to Robert "Louie" and Adele Farrer Randolph at Wolf Creek, just by payment of a rooster in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, Carl exemplified a life of hard work and determination. After completing the 8th grade at Central High School, he began his journey as an automobile service station attendant at Roy Griffin Service Station. In 1954, Carl proudly enlisted in the United States Navy as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic, serving his country honorably during the Korean War.
After his service, Carl displayed resilience and skill as a C & C Tile setter. He and his wife, Betty, later ran a gas station and tire shop at Woodland Junction, 5 miles outside of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and a Dairy Deal in Salina, Oklahoma, embracing the entrepreneurial spirit together.
Carl’s love story with Betty began at Cotton’s Café in Tulsa, OK, culminating in their marriage on October 25, 1957. Together, they raised four children: Edwin Randolph, Vickie Vestey, Teresa Caves, and Brenda Fields, building a family rooted in love and support with family dinners every Sunday afternoon!
After retiring from Holley Automotive in 1996, Carl devoted his time to his passions: building a treehouse for his grandkids, tending to his chickens and garden, fishing, raising livestock, bird watching, and perfecting his renowned pinto beans. Always the handyman, he enjoyed shopping at Aldi’s and Super H, attending livestock auctions, and cooking Sunday dinners that brought everyone together. He cherished every moment spent at his grandchildren’s concerts, games, and sporting events, proudly donning his Big Smith overalls.
Carl was preceded in death by his father, Louie Randolph; mother, Adele; stepmother, Etta; his baby sister, Flossie Randolph; and siblings Kenneth "Nip'" Randolph, Bob Randolph, Jack Randolph, Sally Dozier, Thomas Randolph, and Harvey Randolph.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; children: Ed Randolph of Sallisaw, OK; Vickie Vestey of Frankfort, IN; Teresa Caves of Bentonville, AR; and Brenda Fields of Sallisaw, OK. His enduring legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Jessica Fulton of Mississippi, Vanessa and Alex Vannaraj of Bentonville, AR; Crystal and John Land of Bentonville, AR; Teresa, Britney, and Luke Vestey of Frankfort, IN; and Dr. Ashley and Michael Proctor of Noble, OK; along with five great-grandchildren: Parker, Camdyn, Gwendolyn, Mason, and Conway. Carl’s story continues through the hearts of several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends will always remember Carl for his generous spirit, deep love for family, and unique personality. Even in his final moments, you could find Carl enjoying a Dr. Pepper and a Hershey's chocolate bar.
Viewing will be held at Forever Memories in Sallisaw, OK, on Saturday May 3rd, 2025 from 12-4 PM.
In honor of Carl, please wear your overalls and celebrate a life well-lived!
