Carolyn Sue Gibson passed away on October 7, 2026, at age 85. Born on December 8, 1940, Carolyn will be remembered with respect and affection by those who knew and loved her.
Carolyn graduated from Central High School in 1960 and attended Warner State College for business. Carolyn played high school basketball and was on the All-State Basketball team. Carolyn shared in running her husband's trucking business, was a homemaker, and a loving mother. Later in life, Carolyn worked as a Teacher Assistant, where she devoted her time to helping students and supporting the teaching staff.
Carolyn married Joseph "Joe" Mitchell Gibson on the 11th of March, 1961; she married her eternal love. Their love was a bond that time could not diminish, distance erase, nor death destroy. A love everlasting, until they meet again.
She is survived by her daughter, JoeDonna Gibson, Sallisaw, Oklahoma, two sons, Paul Gibson and wife Ashley Gibson, Sallisaw, Oklahoma, and Matt Gibson and wife Kristie Gibson, Vian, Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Joseph Paul Alan Ellis and wife Brandy Ellis, Sallisaw, Oklahoma; Logan A'Randall Caroline Ellis, Fort Worth, Texas; Josey Busch and Husband Trayven Busch, Joseph Gibson, Jacob Gibson, Andrew Gibson, Kaitlin Clark, Fysher Brooks and wife Dorothy Brooks, Coweta, Oklahoma; Matti Blu Gibson-Birge, Colorado, and Tinley Gibson, Vian, Oklahoma. Great-grandchildren, Piper Joe Marie Ellis, Joseph Gibson (little Joe), Landon Gibson, Gracie Gibson, Grayson Gibson, Ridge Gibson, JennaLee Bridges, and Elias Bridges.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Vann and Gracie Beatrice (Mattax) Vann, and her husband, Joseph "Joe" Mitchell Gibson; brothers, Robert Vann, Dalton Vann and Paul Vann; sisters, Mary Vann-Tackett, Jean Vann-McEver, Bobby Vann-Workman, and Jackie Vann-Stewart; and grandson Justin Gibson.
A memorial gathering for Carolyn Sue Gibson will be held on October 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of the Forever Memories Funeral Services, Inc., 463505 OK-101, Sallisaw, Oklahoma 74955.
Our faithful mother will forever be loved, forever remembered; her spirit lives in the beauty of nature and in the hearts of those who loved her.
