Charles “Butch” Lee Cox, 78, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma passed away on December 22, 2022, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Butch was born in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma to Nicholas E Cox and Lillian (Dawson) Cox on April 20, 1944. Butch was a skilled rock layer throughout his life. Several local homes feature his amazing artwork with rock. Many a time, a walk around the creek would end in a particular rock being carried back awaiting its perfect placement in his next masterpiece.
Butch spent his spare time artifact hunting. He had a keen eye for flint knapping. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Butch thoroughly enjoyed his family and most importantly, his precious time with his grandchildren. He always had a story to tell and a laugh to share with people.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents Nicholas and Lillian Cox, two sisters, Maxine Lewis and Pansy McFarland, and four brothers, Sherman Cox, Toby Cox, Cherry Cox, and David Cox.
Butch is survived by one son, Greg and Gina Cox of Sallisaw, OK, and one daughter Shannon and Jeremy Taylor of Sallisaw, OK. One brother, Gary Cox of Sallisaw, OK, and three sisters, Vivian Green of Fort Gibson, OK, JoAnn Forbes of Checotah OK, and Betty Keef of Pocasset, OK. Seven grandchildren, Hilary Cox, Megan Cox, CaRee Turner, LaRissa Parker, Shelbi Sixkiller, Devin Brown, and Jada Coatney. Twelve great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. As well as a host of family friends too numerous to name individually.
Viewing with family will be held before the service at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Forever Memories Funeral Services.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Forever Memories Funeral Services with Monroe Lowrimore officiating.
The final resting place will be at Brent Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Devin Brown, Jeremy Taylor, Mark Brunk, Nathan McFarland, Brent Callahan, and Brian Jackson.
