Charles Wayne Goad, 85, a dedicated family man and cherished community member, passed away on April 10, 2026, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Born on February 12, 1941, in Akins, Oklahoma, to Earl Doc Goad and Anna Mae Goad (Mayfield), Charles lived a life marked by steadfast commitment to his faith, family, and work.
A proud graduate of Central High School in 1959, Charles's early years laid the foundation for a life filled with hard work and devotion. His career reflected his versatile skills and enduring work ethic. He was employed as a painter of airplanes at Tinker Air Force Base, contributed his talents to the City of Fort Smith, and worked at the Simmons poultry plant. After retirement, Charles pursued his passion for the outdoors by establishing a landscaping business, a venture that allowed him to remain connected with nature—something he greatly loved.
Throughout his life, Charles placed God and family above all else. A proud accomplishment was becoming licensed as a nondenominational preacher, a role through which he impacted many with his faith and wisdom. Charles was known for his love of fishing and gardening, hobbies that offered him peace and joy and reflected his deep appreciation for the natural world.
He is survived by his devoted children, Wayne and Renee Goad, Teresa and Billy Moore, Sindra Varnell, Alena Poindexter, Chuck Goad, Lorinda Goad, Brent Goad, Clint Goad, and Chapin Goad. His sisters, Kay Goad, Jan Goad, Phyllis Goad; and sister-in-law, Sharon Goad. His legacy continues through 56 grandchildren and a multitude of great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his spirit and values.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Emma Goad, Carolyn Goad, Barbara Goad, Joan Goad; and his brothers, Doyle Goad and Jim Goad.
As we remember Charles Goad, we honor a life well-lived—one defined by unwavering faith, dedication to family, and a steadfast work ethic. His presence will be deeply missed, but his influence and the love he shared will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
