Christopher Wayne Smith, 50, of Vian, OK passed away on November 07, 2021.

Christopher was born April 28, 1971, in Tulsa, OK to Christine Diane Shivel. He lived in Owasso, OK throughout his childhood, then later moved to Gore, OK with his grandparents. They settled in Gum Springs Community where they opened their store, Gum Springs Grocery. Chris helped them in the store until it closed.

He attended Gum Springs Elementary then went on to attend Gore High School where he played football and competed in weightlifting. He later attended Bill Willis Skill Center in Tahlequah, where he received his Welding Certificate and GED. Some of his passions included being a gun and knife enthusiast, music, art, video games, and his grandchildren. Later in life, he trained in Arkansas to become a Union Millwright. He last worked as a Millwright for Millwright Local #216.

Chris began dating Joan Gourd in October of 1996. On August 08, 1998, they were married at the Overlook on Tenkiller Lake in Gore, OK. He was a member of The Crossing Church.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Smith of the home; children, Heather and Stephen Milligan, Kirstie and Jeremiah Johnson, Douglous Smith and Adrienne Uselton, Destiny Gourd and Butch Lemasters; grandchildren, Lily Wooten, 14, Briar Milligan, 9, Finnley Milligan, 6, Avril Johnson, 7, and Collin Lemasters, 8.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Christine Shivel; grandparents, Donald and Evelyn Winkle; aunts, Linda Baker-Thornton and Charon Shivel; and uncles, Carl and “Buddy” Shivel.

Casket bearers are Doug Smith, Stephen Milligan, Jeremiah Johnson, Butch Lemasters, Collin Lemasters, Finnley Milligan, Jay Billie, Billy Medicinebird, Brock Reather,Sherman Connelly, and Ronnie Bush

Memorial Services for Christopher will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 2:00 p.m in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of Forever Memories Funeral Services with Kenneth Byrd officiating services.
