Don Larry Darcy

The earthly body of Don Larry Darcy 77, passed away September 10, 2017. He left to join the love of His life Rita Darcy. His heart left this earth the day she died, exactly twelve years and two hours from when He died. He was born on April 13, 1940, (every seven years it fell on Friday, he didn’t believe in bad luck). He was born in Columbus, Kansas to Curtis and Martha Mae Darcy. He was the youngest of five and the last to pass.His family moved many times before settling down in Savanna, Oklahoma. He was a star athlete. It was there in Savanna that he met her. He would follow her home from school throwing rocks at her, never hitting her, just getting her attention. They dated, he joined the army, she sent a dear John letter, he came back and they got married. He served in the Korean War for a few years where he pealed potatoes and dug ditches. He came home and they moved to California with his family. It was there where he started many successful businesses. They came back to Oklahoma in 1986, he was driving through Sallisaw, looked up and down main street and said this was it. Bought the first house he looked at and lived there until this year. They bought Sallisaw Auto and Horns Tire where he worked until 2003. She wanted to retire and spend time with the grandkids and he wanted to do whatever she did.A few years ago, he pointed at a family photo and said because of her, he got all this, meaning his family. They had 3 children, Tracy Lynn, Donna Kay, and Larry Don. Family was the most important thing in the world to him. It took a village, he helped raise his grandchildren, all eight of them. Ball games and family dinners, that’s what builds character he would say.He leaves behind his Children, Tracy Lynn Darcy, Donna and Tom Forst, and Larry and Jennifer Darcy. His eight grandchildren, Garrett Wright and daughters Kaitlyn and Cambrie, Tyler and levy Kutil and their children Dominic, Kieran, Jordan, Elizabeth and Amelia. Cianan Kutil (hasn’t found the right girl, so no babies yet) Eathan Kutil and wife Brittney, children Michelle, Wyatt and Owlsley. Shade and Hannah Kutil and their children Lily and Haven. Grandson Kenneth and Brittania Darcy and their children Karsen and Braylynn. Granddaughter Sidney and her husband Zac Josefowski of Pennsylvania and Sarah Darcy of Sallisaw. He also leaves a Cousin and best friend Bill Buff, his sister-in-law Ethel Darcy, and brother-in-law Joe Holt and brother in law Doyle King. Many other family members and lots of friendsIn regards of his wishes there will be no viewing, but too bad dad,We are having a party Wednesday at Sequoyah County Fair Grounds at 6 pm. There will be pie, his favorite, and lots of food and lots of tears and many happy memories. Funeral services for Don Darcy will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at 10:00 am in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel, Forever Memories Funeral Services, Sallisaw. Committal services will be at 2 pm at Savanna Cemetery, Savanna, Oklahoma.
