Edith Marlene Brown, a beloved homemaker and cherished matriarch, passed away on August 1, 2025, at her home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 4, 1949, Edith spent her life nurturing those around her and creating a warm and welcoming home for her family.
As a devoted daughter of John Raymond and Mildred Sanders, Edith grew up in Sallisaw, nurturing her values of family and love. She married A.J. Brown, with whom she shared countless wonderful memories, before he predeceased her. Throughout her life, she took immense pride in her family, her greatest accomplishments being her grandchildren and the bond she built with them.
Edith's warm spirit was reflected in her passions; she found great joy in cooking, often preparing comforting meals that brought her family together. She delighted in watching cooking shows, especially "Pioneer Woman," which inspired her culinary creativity. Additionally, her interests included going to the casino, hunting for treasures at yard sales, and cherishing her collections of Angels and Pandas. A strong believer in her faith, Edith enjoyed going to church whenever her health permitted.
Her love for music was evident, as she particularly enjoyed the lyrics of country music legends like Neil McCoy, Alan Jackson, and the band Ricochet, which often filled her home with joyful melodies.
Edith will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Tammy Brown; her sisters, Lahoma Jones and husband Randy, and Patricia Brown; her brothers, Dale Sanders and Bobby Sanders; her grandchildren, Dakota Brown and wife Chelsey, Thomas Smith, Shyann Brown and Vernon, Brittney and husband Jake Thompson, and Aaron and Tyrese Mumphrey; as well as several great nieces and nephews and great grandchildren who brought her endless joy.
She reunites in love with her predeceased family members, including her daughter, Kathy Jennings; her brothers, Sheryll, Loye, and Jimmy Sanders; her sister, Gaylene Hines; and her niece, Amber Mills; her nephew, Joey Thomas Hines; and Jessie Sanders.
A viewing will take place on August 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM (with family attending from 12-2pm) in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel at Forever Memories Funeral Services, Inc., located at 463505 OK-101, Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
