An individual deeply interested in history, Ernest could often be found engrossed in stories of the past, sharing his knowledge and insights with others. He had a keen eye for treasures and enjoyed the thrill of visiting yard sales, searching for unique finds that would spark joy.
In addition to his personal interests, Ernest was also known for his community involvement, having once been a member of the local Jaycees organization, where he dedicated time and effort to service and fellowship.
Ernest leaves behind his loving spouse, Melissa Harris, and his three children: Billy Dee Harris, Ernest Dee Harris III, and Christine Ollie Harris. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Daniel Harris, Amelia Cripps, Rocky Cripps Junior, Alyssa Harris, Paul Harris, Dalia Harris, Dillion Harris, and Marty Harris, whose lives he touched with laughter and wisdom.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ernie Ernest Harris II, and daughter, Angie Harris. He is also survived by his cherished family members, including his mother, Carlene Puffer, and his siblings: Carl Harris, Susie England, and Barbra Pearson, alongside the loving memories of his grandmother, Minnie Bell Thompson Ramsey.
