Eugene Rowland, 69, was born January 10, 1956, in Checotah, Oklahoma, to Billy Rowland and Ruth Head Rowland. He was the second-born of seven children. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. After leaving the service, he worked as a hunting guide in the mountains around Buena Vista, Colorado. He returned home to Oklahoma and became a truck driver, working in the oil fields. In 2004, Eugene met, and then married, Terry Pack Barrick Rowland and began working as a pipeline inspector. In 2016, Gene and Terry moved to Babb, Montana, where they managed Paul Ranch Montana, a guest house ranch just outside of Glacier National Park. In 2019, the couple returned home to Vian, Oklahoma, and Gene worked two more jobs as a pipeline inspector before retiring.

Gene is survived by his wife, Terry Rowland of the home; his children, Jesse Lee Rowland and David Brandon Rowland of Provo, Utah, Skipper Rowland of Granite, OK, Nicholas Barrick and wife, Leslie of Vian, OK, and Neisha Edwards and husband, Jason, of Warner, OK. He is also survived by his siblings, Sheila Bittle and husband, Mike, of Owasso, OK, Billie Rowland of Porum, Ok, Tony Rowland and wife, Sandy, of Enterprise, OK, and Tina Rowland of Tulsa, OK; his grandchildren, Angel Deerinwater of Muskogee, OK, Misti Rowland and fiancé Xyerric of Woodward, OK, Alexus Hofstetter and husband, Cole, of Sallisaw, OK, James Thornton Jr. of Vian, OK, Maddox, Luke and Ryne Edwards of Warner, OK, Robin Vann and husband, Watie of Stilwell, OK, Ashley Harrington of Sallisaw, OK, and Jordan Harrington of Stilwell, OK; his great grandchildren, Wesson and Denver Deerinwater of Muskogee, OK, Gunner, Emma, Beau, Kennedye Hofstetter of Sallisaw, OK, Alena, James, Dawson, Emma, Benny, and Wrenlee Vann of Stilwell, OK; along with many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Patrick Gene Rowland; brother, Darwin Rowland; and his sister, Celia Rowland.


In Lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Tunnels To Towers Foundation or Veterans Support Foundation
