John Wayne Lasiter, 74, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was born on January 25, 1951, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Ellie and Henry Lasiter. John cherished his upbringing and was a proud graduate of Central Schools.
John owned a convenience store in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. His establishment served as a gathering place for locals, where he not only provided essential goods but also fostered an environment of camaraderie among patrons. John was a man of simple pleasures, described as a "plain jane kind of guy," who found joy in listening to classic country music from the sixties.
John was an avid fisherman and enjoyed visiting the Sallisaw Casino, activities that brought him happiness throughout his life.
He is survived by his children, John Casey Lasiter and his wife, Ericka, of Bossier City, Louisiana, Stacey Dunson of Van Buren, Arkansas, and his stepchildren, Justin Ashmore and Shellie Ashmore, both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; grandchildren, Emily Bell and husband Anthony, Eddie Baldwin, Darrell Baldwin, Brayden Baldwin, Chloe Baldwin, Elliot Lasiter, Nora Lasiter and Owen Lasiter. John was also survived by the staff and residents of Valley Springs Nursing Facility in Van Buren, Arkansas.
John is preceded in death by his loving parents, and his siblings, Clarence Petree, Lavon Allen, and James Lasiter.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 4-8 pm with the family in attendance from 6-8 pm in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel at Forever Memories Funeral Services, at 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw, Oklahoma. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Upper Camp Creek Cemetery, located at 3526 SW 20th St, Muldrow, Oklahoma. Heath Wood will be officiating the service and the pallbearers will be Eddie Baldwin, Darrell Baldwin, Brayden Baldwin, Justin Ashmore, Amos Baldwin, and Meredyth Petree.
