Langford Ray Frederick, 64, a man whose life was marked by warmth, wit, and an enduring devotion to those he loved, passed away on May 3, 2026, in Vian, Oklahoma. Born on July 22, 1961, in Cortez, Colorado, Langford’s journey through life was one filled with rich experiences, laughter, and deep connections that touched many.
Langford was known for his great sense of humor and remarkable storytelling abilities, qualities that endeared him to both friends and family alike. At the center of his world were the people he cherished most. He loved woodworking, a craft that brought him immense satisfaction and joy. Equally, Langford had a playful side, especially when it came to his grandchildren, whom he loved teasing and treasured above all else. The joy they brought him was immeasurable.
His affinity for music was another vibrant thread in the tapestry of his life. As the lead singer of the country band "The Wanderers," Langford poured his heart into every song he sang. Willie Nelson held a special place in his musical admiration. An enduring memory that shaped his life was the day he saw his first love, Darla Shoemate, riding a horse—an image so powerful that he declared his intention to marry her. Though Darla Frederick, his beloved wife, preceded him in death, Langford carried their shared memories with him always.
One of Langford’s proudest accomplishments included traveling the world alongside his devoted spouse, Molly Crossland, who loved him deeply. Their decade of shared adventures stands as a testament to their bond and mutual affection.
He leaves behind his spouse, Molly Crossland; his son, Dustin Frederick, and wife, Kim, of Sedgewick, Kansas; step-daughters, Roselle Settlemire and Sammie Settlemire; siblings, Joe Thomas, Kelly Frederick, Elmer Frederick, Irene Frederick, Ruth Frederick, Bud Frederick, Julie Frederick, Carl Shoemate, and Christine Breshears; his grandchildren, Braedyn, Daelyn and Jaxtyn Frederick, of Sedgewick, Kansas, and his step-grandchildren Elliot, Carter, and Chloe Settlemire. He is also survived by many friends, family, coworkers, band members, and basically anyone he was acquainted with because he knew no stranger and was greatly loved by everyone.
Langford was preceded in death by his first wife, Darla Frederick; mother, Elsie Burnett; father, Leslie Frederick; mom, Norma Frederick; and his brothers, Sterling Shoemate and Robert May.
Langford Ray Frederick’s life was one of heartfelt stories, musical notes, compassionate relationships, and an unyielding zest for life. His memory will live on in the laughter and love of his family and friends, who were his greatest treasures. He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered with respect and affection. The family of Langford has entrusted the arrangements to Forever Memories Funeral Services, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
