Laurie Ellen (Coughlin) Hendrix, 68, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, passed away on April 11, 2026, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Born on January 27, 1958, to Edward and Nancy (Biegle) Coughlin, in Placentia, California, Laurie devoted her life to caring for others and shared a remarkable career spanning over thirty years as a respiratory therapist.
Her dedication to healing and compassion touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on her profession. Laurie was a woman who embraced life with a very caring and loving spirit. Beyond her professional achievements, Laurie loved horses and even had a trainer's license for some year and cherished the tranquility of lake life and boating. Her heart was happiest when she was outdoors, surrounded by nature's beauty and spending time with her loved ones.
Laurie’s memory lives on through her loving family: her daughter, Johanna Champany, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; her son, Matthew Champany, and wife Christine, of Rancho Cucamonga, California; her grandchildren, Paulix Acevez, Summer Knickerbocker, Nathaniel Champany and Madison Champany; and her siblings, Denny Coughlin, Kenny Coughlin, and Johnny Coughlin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Barbara Coughlin.
A viewing will be held in Laurie's honor on May 8, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Both events will take place at Forever Memories Funeral Services, Inc., located at 463505 OK-101, Sallisaw, Oklahoma, 74955.
Laurie’s generous spirit, devotion to family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and dedication that will continue to inspire. Her presence was a blessing, and her memory a treasure that those she loved will cherish forever.
