Laurie Mae Souleret

Laurie Mae Souleret passed away on September 22, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on August 11, 1942, Laurie will be remembered with respect and affection by those who knew and loved her. Her life spanned more than eight decades, and her memory will remain cherished.

Laurie enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, spending time with family, cooking all holiday dinners, consignment shopping, sewing and crocheting.  Laurie was of the Baptist faith; as a child, Laurie would say the night time prayer with Charlotte.

Laurie is survived by her children, Charlotte Caves and husband Donnie Caves, William "Stubby" Petree, and Daniel Shafer and wife Renee Shafer. Close friends, Nellie Chavez, they rode to work together to Whirlpool where she worked for 30 years, and several trips sight seeing with the grandkids and trips to Las Vegas.  James Roastingear was a close family friend to Laurie, they shared several memories.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Marie Barnett, Son, Tony Guy Shafer, brothers Jimmy Barnett and Willie Barnett, sisters Velda Gibbons and Charlotte Oliver.

A memorial service for Laurie Mae Souleret will be held on October 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of the Forever Memories Funeral Services, Inc., 463505 OK-101, Sallisaw, Oklahoma 74955.

As family and friends gather to honor her life, they will remember Laurie with love and gratitude, holding close the moments they shared with her and the lasting place she leaves in their hearts.
