Patsy Ruth McLemore Weddle, 91 passed from this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in Sallisaw. She was a devoted and loving wife, mom, grandmother and elementary educator to the children of Brushy School.Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the Sallisaw Church of Christ, 1104 E. Choctaw Avenue. Interment will follow at Akins Cemetery N.E. of Sallisaw. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, January 12 at Forever Memories Funeral Home, 463505 State Highway 101, Sallisaw.Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to: “Pat Weddle ADK Teacher’s Scholarship Fund” c/o First Star Bank, 1720 E. Cherokee, Sallisaw, Oklahoma 74955.Patsy Ruth Weddle was born on September 20, 1928 at High Hill, Oklahoma just N.E. of McAlester, Oklahoma to John Edward and Dena Swindle McLemore. She was the baby of a family of twelve and graduated from McAlester High School in 1947. Determined to go to college she worked four years to earn enough for her first semester at Oklahoma A&M University where she completed her degree in vocational home economics. While a student at Oklahoma A&M University she met the love of her life Curtis E. Weddle, Jr. and they were married April 8, 1955 and made a life and family together for nearly 50 years before Curtis passed away.In 1970 Patsy, Curtis and family moved to Sallisaw to make their final home and in 1974 she re-entered the profession of education following her passion to teach elementary age children. She taught almost every grade at Brushy School (sometimes three at a time) over the next 21 years.Her family was all-important and she created and kept a home that was warm, welcome, safe and filled with love and countless outstanding meals. Easter Egg hunts for the church, reunions and cookouts were regular fare on the hill at home. She and Curtis traveled a bit after retirement and she remained active in ADK, an educator’s sorority. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for her entire life and supporter of children’s charities such as St. Jude Children’s Hospital.Patsy Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Curtis and eleven older brothers and sisters. She is survived by son Curtis E. Weddle, III and wife Glenda of Akins, Oklahoma, daughter Mary C. Powell and husband Dr. Kenneth C. Powell of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, son Dr. John P. Weddle and Bobbie of Muldrow, Oklahoma, grandson Major Curtis E. Weddle, IV and wife Monica of Wichita Falls, Texas, granddaughters Abbie and Grace Weddle of Muldrow, Oklahoma.Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Service, Sallisaw, OK
