Rocky Joe Woods Sr.

Rocky Joe Woods Sr., 79, of Muldrow, Oklahoma, passed away on October 17, 2024, in Muldrow, Oklahoma. Rocky was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Reverend J. K. Woods and Lola Faye (Wear) Woods on August 14, 1945. Rocky graduated from Roland High School in 1963. After graduation, Rocky went on to be successful in many ways. In 1983, he founded Rockys Corner Inc. He was also a cattle rancher for Liberty Brangus Ranch, and served Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office (Little Rock) from a Deputy to an Undercover Sgt of Narcotics. He would also serve as the Director for District 1 of the Cookson Hills Electric Co-op. Rocky wasn’t one for “down time,” but when he had time to do the things he loved, he could be found woodworking, being a jeweler, gardening, crappie fishing, and hunting. He was a devoted and honored 32° Mason. Rocky profoundly loved his family and friends; his family was paramount. He was firm in his Baptist faith and often would sing “In the Garden” as a special in his church. The best thing about Rocky is that he knew everything. The worst thing about Rocky is “He knew EVERYTHING!”

Rocky is survived by his spouse of 61 years, Shirley Woods; their son, Rocky Jr., and his wife, Tina Woods; their grandson, Rocky “Trey” J Woods III and his sisters, Janice Nolan and Micki Holloway.

“I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear
The son of God discloses
And he walks with me
And he talks with me
And he tells me I am his own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known
I’d stay in the garden with him
Though the night around me is falling
But he bids me go
Through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling”
