Rocky Teague, 70, of Sallisaw, a dedicated cattle rancher, in which he dearly loved, and respected road foreman for Sequoyah County District 1, passed away on May 24, 2026 , at his home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Born on February 6, 1956, in Clinton, Oklahoma, Rocky’s life was deeply rooted in the lands of his home.
Throughout his career, Rocky was known not only for his hard work but also for his commitment to the well-being and progress of Sequoyah County. In his younger years, Rocky calf roped and team penned. As he got older, his favorite Saturday outing was attending the Tahlequah Cattle Sale with his buddy, Mike Real. Rocky's favorite Sunday pastime was watching NASCAR.
Rocky’s life was marked by a strong work ethic and a genuine connection to the land and people he served.
He is survived by his wife, Cheri; son, Jonathan Teague; siblings, Mary Teague, Debbi Farris, Judy Long, Shirl Risenhoover, Rhonda Cowett, Abby Erwin, Calvin Teague and Clifton Teague; his grandchildren, Emily, Tyler and Kaleb Teague; mother-in-law, Emma McDaniel; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rocky was preceded in death by his parents, Warren C. Teague and Wynona (Schreck) Teague; his sister, Sandy Polasek; and father in law, John C. Smith; and his brother in law, Larry Long.
A graveside service will be held for Rocky on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 2 pm at the Teague Family Cemetery. Dan Borum will be officiating with the following pallbearers: Calvin Teague, Clifton Teague, Mike Real, Mike Polasek, Archie Risenhoover and John Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Rocky's coworkers of Sequoyah County District 1. Arrangements for Rocky has been entrusted by his family to Forever Memories Funeral Services, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
He will be remembered with respect and appreciation for a life devoted to both family and community. Rocky Teague’s passing leaves a profound sense of loss, but his legacy endures through the many lives he touched quietly and steadfastly over the years.
