William Ray Carter Jr., 72, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, was born on October 30, 1953 in Gardena, California, to William Carter Sr. and Juanita (Ford) Rieschlegar, passed away on August 10, 2026 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He was a retired over-the-road truck driver, served three years in The Army, from 1971-1974. William loved to drink coffee (iced and cold), enjoyed watching "Judge Judy" and liked to play backgammon. He was an avid NFL football fan that was able to quote statistics and player names from many years ago. William treasured his almost, 8 years of marriage to Lou (Robertson) and he enjoyed making people laugh and telling jokes. His love of the ocean was evident in his enjoyment of cruises, his humor and personality will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Lou Carter; his son, Daniel Carter of Elmonte, California; his sisters, Patricia Warren and Theresa Hale, both of Fort Worth, Texas, and Kathy Stovall of The Woodlands, Texas; his step-daughters, Renee Wallace and husband, Kevin of Nacodoches, Texas, Krystal McIntire and husband, John of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; along with several grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
William was preceded in death by his parents.
