In Memory of Johnny Ray Hudson

Johnny Ray Hudson

  • Birth Date: November 27, 1937
  • Death Date: April 24, 2020

Johnny Ray Hudson, 82 of Sallisaw, went to be with his Lord on Apr 24, 2020. He was born on Nov 27, 1937 in Delano, CA to Austin and Laura Hudson. He was married to Jessie Mae Maynard on June 7, 1957 and is survived by her. He is also survived by three daughters and their husbands, Twyla and Larry Gaertner, Beverly and Mark Knoner, and Melody and Scott Hutchins; one son, Johnny Hudson Jr and his wife, Lisa; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 on the way. He grew up with 4 siblings who he dearly loved and was dearly loved by them.

Johnny grew up picking fruit and cotton in California. He knew how to work hard. Johnny was with Conoco Oil for many years where he worked his way up to production foreman. When he retired, he raised cattle, roofed houses, bailed hay, and fixed everyone's hay equipment when it broke down. He was always quick to help his neighbors and friends. He loved tinkering on old power tools to see if he could get them to work again. He had a good sense of humor and never let us take ourselves to seriously, while adding an element of fun to any job he did. He loved spending time with his family, taking his grandchildren to the store for cokes and candy bars, or making milkshakes for the little ones. He was easy to talk with, made friends everywhere he went. His greatest desire was for his family to know Christ as their savior and be active in a church family. He was a good man and a good friend to many. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Visitation for Johnny will be held with CDC guidelines concerning social distancing in place on Thursday morning, from 8:30 to 10:30 in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel, Forever Memories Funeral Service, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 am on Thursday morning in the Akins Cemetery with Pastor Bob Overton officiating.
